Gómez-Pinzón assists JetBlue in acquisition of Spirit Airlines
Gómez-Pinzón has assisted Jet Blue Airways in the acquisition of control of Spirit Airlines INC, through a merger between Sundown Acquisition Corp, a subsidiary of JetBlue, and Spirit.
The advice involved competition analysis and AeroCivil merger control proceedings, as well as obtaining clearance without conditions.
The transaction was complex due to the fact that the parties have high market shares on several international routes between Colombia and the United States, which generated preliminary competition concerns on the part of the Authority on some of the routes affected by the transaction.
