Granadeiro Guimarães announces the passing of founding partner

Maurício Granadeiro Guimarães (pictured), founding partner at Granadeiro Guimarães Advogados, passed away on June 1, 2025, at the age of 80.

Renowned for his lifelong dedication to labor law, a commitment that established him as one of the foremost authorities in the field, Maurício leaves behind an extraordinary legacy in Brazilian jurisprudence.

With exceptional technical acumen and steadfast devotion to academia and legal institutions, he played a pivotal role in numerous oral arguments and extraordinary appeals before Regional Labor Courts, the Superior Labor Court, and the Federal Supreme Court. He will be remembered as a tireless advocate for labor justice.

Maurício’s career was defined by pioneering vision and progressive thinking. He was a founding member of the São Paulo Labor Lawyers Association and held the 22nd Chair at the São Paulo Academy of Labor Law (APDT).

He also made significant contributions as curator of the Ethics and Disciplinary Tribunal of the Brazilian Bar Association, São Paulo Section (OAB-SP); president of the Examination Board of the OAB-SP Internship and Bar Examination Committee; member of the Examination Board for the Judiciary Entrance Exam of the Regional Labor Court of the 2nd Region (TRT-2), appointed by OAB-SP; member of the Brazilian Association of Mercosur Lawyers (ABAM); and an active member of the Brazilian Institute of Social Law Cesarino Junior.

A visionary ahead of his time, Maurício approached his work with rigor and excellence, remaining an influential presence in the higher courts and in the labor law community until the final days of his career.

He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to shape the legal profession and inspire generations to come.
