Greenberg Traurig shareholder named chair of ICC’s Mexico antitrust commission
Miguel Flores Bernés, a shareholder in law firm Greenberg Traurig’s antitrust litigation and competition regulation practice in Mexico City, has been appointed chair of the competition commission of the Mexico chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).
The ICC is a world business organisation helping businesses of all sizes and in all countries to operate both internationally and responsibly, with more than six million members in more than 100 countries.
“I am honored to be able to further collaborate with competition experts, in-house lawyers, and specialized economists in expanding the discussion of antitrust and competition matters in Mexico,” Flores Bernés said.
“Fines for antitrust violations in Mexico are substantial, and carry the risk of reputational damage to companies. We look forward to the continued support of companies doing business in Mexico that are developing adequate compliance programs and strengthening dialogue with public and private stakeholders,” he added.
Based in the firm’s Mexico City office, Flores Bernés (pictured) focusses his practice on antitrust and competition issues affecting clients in various industries, including government merger review, investigations of alleged anticompetitive conduct, litigation, and counselling.
He regularly represents clients before Mexico’s federal antitrust commission (COFECE) and federal telecommunications institute (IFT).
