Greenberg Traurig welcomes Matt Squires to expand Latin America practice
Global law firm Greenberg Traurig has reinforced its award-winning Latin America practice with the addition of Matt Squires, former leader of the Latin America practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.
Based in the firm’s Salt Lake City office, Squires brings extensive experience, having advised on more than $30 billion in cross-border transactions across the region. His arrival enhances Greenberg Traurig’s multidisciplinary capabilities and sustained commitment to serving clients throughout Latin America
With nearly 20 years of experience, Squires offers deep insight into the legal and business dynamics of Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile.
His culturally attuned, business-driven approach has helped clients navigate complex cross-border financings, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets transactions throughout the region.
Greenberg Traurig’s Latin America practice comprises more than 120 attorneys stationed across offices in São Paulo, Mexico City, and the United States. The São Paulo office provides U.S. law counsel to those seeking opportunities in Brazil, while also supporting Brazilian clients expanding into U.S. and global markets.
In accordance with local regulations, Greenberg Traurig’s Brazil practice operates as foreign legal consultants under U.S. law and does not practice Brazilian law.
Squires is fluent in Portuguese and proficient in Spanish. He earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, as well as an M.A. and B.A. from Brigham Young University. His strong connection to Brazil began in the late 1990s during a two-year mission in the country.
