GT Law assists Banobras in new loan for Tren Maya

Greenberg Traurig, through its Mexico City office, has assisted Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos (Banobras) in the granting of a loan to Empresas ICA.

The loan will be used for the development of the Tren Maya Tramo 5 Sur Puerto Aventuras – Playa del Carmen. The project also includes the construction of an elevated viaduct, the installation of an electric railway and the construction of the Playa del Carmen station, as well as improvements to highway 307 (Cancun – Tulum), which is a strategic project for the Mexican federal government.

Tren Maya, currently under construction, is a 1,525-kilometre intercity railway in Mexico that will cross the Yucatan Peninsula. The railway starts in Palenque (Chiapas) and extends northeast towards Cancun (Quintana Roo) via two routes around the peninsula. It is one of the largest projects ever proposed by the Mexican government.
