Haynes and Boone hires energy partner Nicolas Borda in Mexico

Haynes and Boone announced the addition of energy and natural resources practitioner Nicolas Borda as partner in the Mexico City office.

Borda focuses his practice on oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream) and renewable energy projects. He is licensed in both Mexico and New York and regularly advises clients in international and cross-border transactions, regulatory, mergers and acquisitions, energy infrastructure project development and real estate matters, government procurement, public policy and dispute resolution.

“The addition of Nicolas broadens our capability to handle complex energy-related transactions on both sides of the Mexico border,” said Partner Alberto de la Peña, who heads the U.S.-Mexico Cross-Border practice group at the law firm. “With the reforms now being implemented throughout the country, our clients will be well-served by his extensive experience.”

Borda said the depth of the firm’s energy practice was enticing. “I am delighted to be joining the Mexico City office to work with such a strong energy practice,” he said. “My clients and practice nicely complement what is already established within Haynes and Boone.”

Borda joins from the Mexico City office of Greenberg Traurig.
