HL advises NX Football USA on the acquisition of a 50% stake in Necaxa FC
Hogan Lovells has assisted NX in the acquisition of a 50% stake in Mexican football team Club Necaxa
Hogan Lovells represented NX Football USA LLC in an investment for 50% of the shares of Impulsora del Deportivo Necaxa, S.A. de C.V., the company that owns Club de Fútbol Necaxa (“Club Necaxa”).
The transaction was approved by the Mexican Football Federation on 24 May 2021. This is a transaction that is likely to open the door to more foreign investment in Liga MX teams.
“The investment of our new strategic partners has been unanimously approved. It is a historic day for the sport in Mexico in general, we mark a new beginning, strengthened and with renewed illusions, with the firm commitment to return Necaxa to the top as a benchmark institution within national and international football,” the club said in a statement on its Twitter account.
Hogan Lovells’ team was led by partner Juan Francisco Torres-Landa R.
