Hogan Lovells promotes Edgar Mata in Mexico City

Hogan Lovells has announced the promotion of Edgar Mata (pictured) as new counsel in its Mexico City office, effective 1 January 2023.

This appointment is part of Hogan Lovells’ new promotions worldwide, where it announced the promotion of 38 partners and 77 counsels, across a network of more than 45 offices on six continents, spanning the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Edgar is part of the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology practice. His practice covers all matters relating to trademarks, trade names and trade notices, industrial designs, plant varieties and protection of trade secrets and confidential information. In addition, he has experience in copyright and reservation of rights, including the protection and defence of intellectual property rights in proceedings and trials.

He holds a law degree from Universidad La Salle and obtained law degrees from the Mexican Bar Association and the Mexican Supreme Court of Justice (SCJN). He has been a member of the firm since 2014, and previously worked at Barrera Siqueiros & Torres Landa, as well as in the legal department of Universal Music Mexico.
