Holland & Knight appoints new head of Mexico IP practice
Holland & Knight’s Mexico City-based lawyer José Luis Villareal has been promoted to senior counsel and been designated the head of the office’s intellectual property practice.
“José Luis’ promotion and designation demonstrates Holland & Knight’s commitment to the Latin America region and to the continued growth of its Mexico practice,” said Luis Rubio, executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Mexico City office. “It also shows our capacity to continue expanding as a full-service firm for our clients,” he said.
Villareal (pictured) represents Mexican and international clients from a wide variety of sectors. He advises on complex transactions and litigation proceedings related to intellectual property rights, including trademarks, slogans, tradenames, trade secrets, patents, utility models, industrial designs and copyrights.
Before joining Holland & Knight, he collaborated for several years with a former senior legal officer of the World Intellectual Property Organization, and was also former deputy general director of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property.
He earned a JD degree from Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey.
