Holland & Knight names new executive partner in Miami
Partner Wifredo A. “Willy” Ferrer has been named executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Miami office, and who will oversee the day-to-day management of the office, while continuing his white-collar defence, corporate compliance, and internal investigations practice.
Holland & Knight’s Miami office is one of the firm’s largest, with 260 attorneys and staff.
Ferrer (pictured) joined Holland & Knight in 2017, and he leads the firm’s global compliance and investigations team.
Ferrer succeeds labour and employment litigator Kelly-Ann Cartwright, who held the position for the past 12 years, and who was named chair of Holland & Knight’s Directors Committee in 2018.
He served as the US attorney for the southern district of Florida for almost seven years, and he has also worked as deputy chief of staff and counsel to former US attorney general Janet Reno.
“While serving as the US attorney, Willy led a department of nearly 500 lawyers and staff,” said Steven Sonberg, managing partner of Holland & Knight.
“Since joining Holland & Knight, he has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and inspires the best in everyone. I’m confident he will accomplish great things for the office and the firm,” Soberg said.
