Honduras engages García & Bodan for $600m bond offering
Honduras has carried out a fourth sovereign bonds issuance for $600 million, in which it was advised by the local offices of law firm García & Bodán.
The law firm provided legal advice to the Finance Ministry (SEFIN) on the placement of the bonds in the international capital markets, and which is one of the largest transactions for the government in recent times, the law firm said.
The issuance was accomplished through an agreement between the Republic of Honduras, Oppenheimer & Co. and Banco Atlántida de Honduras, obtaining a rate of 5.625 per cent with a 10-year maturity.
The legal advice consisted of the revision of the legal documents concerning the transaction, as well as its structuring of the issuance at a local level.
The lawyers worked together with SEFIN on the elaboration of the specific authorisations required for the issuance.
The work performed by García & Bodán Honduras was led by managing partner Vanessa Oquelí (pictured), along with partners Ricardo Duarte and Godofredo Siercke.
Arnold & Porter acted as US counsel to the Republic of Honduras, Sherman & Sterling as US counsel to Oppenheimer & Co. and Banco Atlántida de Honduras, and López Rodezno & Asociados as Honduran counsel to Oppenheimer & Co. and Banco Atlántida de Honduras.
