IAB mourns the death of João Baptista Lousada Camara

The death of jurist João Baptista Lousada Camara (pictured), which occurred on Monday (September 15), was mourned by the Brazilian Bar Association (IAB).

In a statement, the entity expressed its solidarity with the family, colleagues, and admirers, in addition to highlighting its great admiration for the work of the lawyer, who passed away at the age of 92. A renowned labor lawyer and member of Casa de Montezuma, Camara had been a member of the IAB since 1980 and was awarded the Levi Carneiro Medal last year.
Camara was a lawyer with more than six decades of professional experience, combining exemplary professional practice with active participation in projects at legal institutions.

Throughout his career, he held prominent positions, such as president of the Ethics and Disciplinary Tribunal of the OAB/RJ and coordinator of the institution’s Advisory Council. For his overall contribution to the legal profession and society, he was awarded the Raymundo Faoro Medal in 2018, one of the highest honors granted by the entity.
