Jones Day advises Nutrien on acquisition of Brazil’s Tec Agro

Jones Day is advising Canadian agricultural feedstock manufacturer Nutrien on its acquisition of Brazil’s Tec Agro Group, the largest branded soybean seeds business in Brazil.

Robert Profusek of Jones DayAs a result of the buyout, Nutrien will operate 25 retail facilities in the Brazilian states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Goiás. 

Nutrien produces and distribute over 25 million tonnes of potash, nitrogen and phosphate products for agricultural, industrial and feed customers worldwide. Tec Agro is a leading agricultural products retailer in the state of Goiás, with close to 25 years’ experience in serving farmers, operating eight retail branches.

Tec Agro’s compay’s annual sales total around $200 million.

The acquisition follows Nutrien’s past acquisitions of similar businesses in the US.
