Jones Day appoints Andrés Lieja as Of Counsel
Jones Day has announced the appointment of Andrés Lieja (pictured) from the Mexico City office as the firm’s new of counsel.
Andrés has experience in many areas of tax law, with a primary focus in the area of tax litigation. He has been involved in various litigation matters related to federal tax credits arising from domestic and international transactions and the application and interpretation of international treaties, federal tax refunds, and local tax credits. He has represented major companies in the energy, food and beverage, alcoholic beverage, cosmetics and offshore maritime sectors.
He has advised clients in matters related to any type of proceedings before the Tax Administration Service (granting of guarantees, remission of fines, compliance by the authorities with rulings, etc.), as well as in appeals filed before federal and local tax authorities.
He has also provided tax consultancy services advising on the tax consequences of national and international operations, especially with regard to issues related to individuals and companies resident in Mexico.
