Jones Day has advised Grupo Gigante on a 10 billion peso bank debt refinancing
Jones Day, through its Mexico City office, has represented Grupo Gigante in connection with a multi-phase refinancing of its bank debt of more than $10 billion pesos (approximately $496 million US dollars), which included the bank debt of Grupo Gigante, and its principal subsidiaries, Grupo Restaurantero Gigante (formerly known as Grupo Toks), Office Depot de México and Gigante Grupo Inmobiliario.
Grupo Gigante, S.A.B. is a holding company based in Mexico, which has been operating businesses in the self-service, cafeteria and specialty retail sectors since 1962. It has been owner and shareholder of such establishments as Office Depot, Toks, Tiendas Super Precio, The Home Store, Gigante Grupo Inmobliliario and the discontinued Gigante Supermercados. It operates 50% of Petco; 50% of Panda Express; and through Office Depot, owns 100% of RadioShack.
