L.Marques Advocacia Socioambiental is a new boutique

L.Marques Advocacia Socioambiental is a new boutique founded by the former heads of KLA Advogados’ environmental practice, Letícia Marques (pictured left) and Paulo Prado (pictured right).

The office providing support on consulting and litigation environmental law for companies and industries in several economic sectors, topics in which Letícia Yumi Marques and Paulo Prado have extensive and recognized experience. The boutique is also focused on the ESG demands presented by its clients, especially the “S” axis – human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I).

Letícia, founding partner of the boutique, says that in the last year she frequently received demands from corporate clients for advice on issues involving DE&I. In 2023, Letícia obtained the GRI Standards Professional accreditation, been qualified by the Global Reporting Initiative to prepare ESG reports in accordance to such reference index, one of the most applied worldwide. Her master’s degree in Sustainability, from the University of São Paulo – USP, obtained in 2022, allows her to navigate multidisciplinary topics and her experience leading the pro bono practice at KLA Advogados, where she was a senior associate for 4 years, put her in direct contact with DE&I topics and recommended practices of literacy, welcoming and anti-discrimination policies and tools for managing diversity in companies.

Paulo, a partner at KLA Advogados, was in charge of the firm’s Diversity Committee, where he initiated the development of the firm’s DE&I policies and implemented important measures. At L.Marques Advocacia Socioambiental, in addition to his role as an environmental law, ESG and DE&I consultant, Paulo brings to the team his experience and recognition in public, regulatory and life sciences law, practices led by him at KLA.

With national coverage, the partnership has offices in the states of São Paulo and Pará, where Letícia began her doctoral studies at UFPA in the field of climate litigation and from where she intends to closely monitor COP 30 and demands from clients, especially mining companies, in the region north of the country. The office also has strategic partners in Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul and, internationally, in Lima, Peru and Buenos Aires, Argentina.
