Latest issue of The Latin American Lawyer now online

In Women’s Month we highlight the importance of equality in law firms, presenting our On the web sections where we emphasise the work and leadership of women lawyers. Likewise, in the On the move section, we feature the most recent signings, where, in the spanish version, we again dedicate the space mainly to signings of female partners.

Following this line, in the spanish version we present an interview with the biologist and recently appointed partner of Olivares, Rommy Morales, an eminent expert in Intellectual Property, specialising in pharmaceutical patents in Mexico.

We dedicate our portuguese cover to other minorities in commemoration of the International Day against Racial Discrimination, highlighting the initiative of the Legal Alliance for Racial Equality.

We continue our annual ranking of top firms by value of M&A deals, this time those of 2022, thanks to information collected by TTR Data (formerly Transactional Track Record).

Also, in both versions we discuss the possibility of the proposed currency between Brazil and Argentina: “sur”, where thanks to the opinion of expert lawyers and professionals dedicated to economic consultancy we put the issue on the table about this exchange that aims to facilitate transactions between the two countries.

We interviewed another Intellectual Property figure in our spanish version, Ricardo Fischer, leader of the trademark practice at ArentFox Schiff, a Venezuelan by birth who has worked with prestigious brands recognised worldwide.

Another valuable interview we present in the Brazilian version is the one we had with Rodrigo Junqueira, managing partner of Lefosse Advogados, one of the most prestigious law firms in the country. We talked about the firm’s trajectory, as well as its short-term plans.

Also in this version we present an article by Monique Guzzo, Tatiana Campello and Camila Garcindo Dayrell Garrote, partners at Demarest on the regulation of sports betting in Brazil, a potential market.

We continue to learn about the use of compliance from the World Compliance Association, this time with a special focus on the Dominican Republic.

Finally, also in commemoration of International Women’s Day, the group’s Iberian Lawyer magazine presented the seventh edition of InspiraLaw, showcasing the 50 best in-house and internal female lawyers in the region.
