The Latin American Lawyer January-February issue is now available for free download
In this edition, we dedicate both covers to recognising the most outstanding firms in Latin America during 2021. With information from TTR, we compile these rankings, by value of transactions, with the best firms in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Chile and Mexico in the most active sectors in the region.
Continuing with the international focus, we present an interview with Gustavo Burochowicz, head of Baker McKenzie’s Latin America region, on the challenge of his new appointment, as well as his inclusion in the firm’s Global Executive Committee. Gustavo shared his background, the changes in the legal industry in the wake of the pandemic and his enthusiasm for the new opportunity.
We highlight the good performance of Brazil and the most relevant transactions that have positioned it as the most active country in Latin America in our On the web section in the Brazilian version. In the Spanish version we focus on transactions, mostly cross-border, in the Corporate and Venture Capital sectors.
Also, in both versions, we cover the most outstanding signings of the last few months within our On the move section.
Gustavo Swenson Caetano, partner at Mattos Filho, shares his views on the legal debate about the unregulated plant-based market in Brazil. Available in the Brazilian version.
In the Spanish version, we have a summary of the most iconic moments of the World Law Congress, an event organised by the World Jurist Association in Barranquilla for the end of the 2021. In this capital of law, there was the awarding of Medals of Honour, the World Peace & Liberty Award, among others.
From the group’s Italian magazine, MAG, an interview with Andrea Parrella, counsel at Leonardo, following the fifth edition of the Compliance Council held in Rome.
In addition, we learned about the use of Compliance from the World Compliance Association, on this occasion with a special focus on Peru. Finally, and in collaboration with the Centro Iberoamericano de Arbitraje (CIAR), we present a new article, by Óscar Cruz Barney.
