Latham & Watkins elevates Latin America lawyers to partnership
Latham & Watkins has strengthened its ranks with the election of 19 counsel to its partnership, effective March 1, 2025. The move brings a wealth of experience across transactional, litigation, and regulatory matters to the firm’s leadership.
Notably, Marcela Ruenes (pictured left) and Santiago Bejarano (pictured right), both members of the Latin American practice, are among those promoted. This follows the upgrade of 24 associates to the partnership, effective January 1, 2025.
Marcela Ruenes is a member of the Banking Practice, Latin America Practice, and Finance Department. She focuses on complex U.S. and cross-border finance transactions, representing financial institutions, alternative financing providers, corporate borrowers, and private equity funds. She earned her LLM at Columbia Law School in 2013 and her Degree in Law at Universidad Iberoamericana in 2009.
Santiago Bejarano is a member of the International Arbitration Practice, Latin America Practice, and Litigation & Trial Department. He represents clients in complex international commercial and investor-state arbitrations worldwide, under both civil and common law legal systems. He earned his LLM from New York University in 2014 and his LLB from Universidad del Rosario in 2011.
