Lawyer Sergio Bermudes dies in Rio at age 79

Lawyer Sergio Bermudes died on Monday (27) at age 79, after a long period of hospitalization. Bermudes dedicated almost half a century to law and established himself as one of the most respected proceduralists in the Brazil.

In 1969, he founded the law firm Sergio Bermudes Advogados, which became one of the largest in the country, with offices in Rio, São Paulo, Brasília, and Belo Horizonte, specializing in strategic litigation, arbitration, and highly complex legal disputes.

The jurist had been hospitalized for seven months and died of respiratory sepsis. He had been facing health complications that worsened since his diagnosis with COVID-19 in 2020.
