Lefosse elects new partners and strengthens brand positioning
Lefosse announced the promotion of three professionals to partners – Mônica Murayama, Pedro Cruciol e Rafaela Canito (pictured from left to right) – reinforcing the expertise in the areas of Dispute Resolution, Capital Markets and Tax, respectively.
In the last four years, the firm has grown by more than 75%, reaching a new level and consolidating its position among the leading law firms in Brazil. To reflect this evolution, it has updated its brand positioning, summarized in the slogan “Lefosse. Together in the decisions that matter”.
With the announcement, Lefosse now has 69 partners, totaling more than 600 professionals in the legal and administrative areas.
Meet the partners:
Mônica Murayama has been practicing for more than ten years in highly complex litigation (with an emphasis on domestic and international arbitration), with a special focus on disputes involving States and State entities, construction and infrastructure contracts, corporate and M&A matters. Before joining Lefosse, she worked in law firms in São Paulo and Washington, DC. Mônica holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of São Paulo, an LL.M. (Master of Laws) in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University, an LL.M. in Transnational Arbitration and Dispute Resolution from Sciences Po, and a Diploma in Public and Private International Law from the Hague Academy of International Law. Qualified lawyer in Brazil and in the State of New York (New York State Bar Association).
Pedro Cruciol has extensive experience in capital market transactions, debt restructuring and financing, having advised issuers and debtors, as well as underwriters and creditors, in transactions in Brazil and abroad. He has also worked as an international associate at Davis Polk, in New York, focusing on the capital markets area. In addition to his office experience, he has worked in a secondment as in-house.
Rafaela Canito
With over 17 years of experience working in the legal field, Rafaela specializes in business tax structuring, focusing on consumption taxation in regulated and infrastructure markets, particularly in the energy, gas and oil, mining, and telecommunications sectors. Due to her multidisciplinary background, the partner has been actively involved in issues related to the Brazilian tax reform, supporting clients both in technical aspects and in the practical implementation of the new rules. Rafaela is a member of the Pro Bono Advocacy Committee at Lefosse and a member of Infra Women Brazil (IWB), a non-profit group dedicated to promoting and encouraging the presence of women in the infrastructure sector. Graduated in Law from UERJ (Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro), with a postgraduate degree in Financial and Tax Law from UFF (Universidade Federal Fluminense), an MBA in Project Management from USP (Universidade de São Paulo), and an MBA in Law and Regulation of the Electric Sector from IDP (Instituto Brasiliense de Direito Público).
