Machado Meyer acts in structuring the privatization of CEEE-D

Grupo Equatorial wins privatization auction and assumes liabilities of almost R$7 billion

The Equatorial Energia Group has been confirmed as the winner of the privatization auction of Companhia Estadual de Distribuição de Energia Elétrica (CEEE-D) of Rio Grande do Sul.

Machado Meyer, as a member of the Minuano Consortium, hired by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development – BNDES, worked on the structuring of the privatization model, having participated directly in the audit process of CEEE-D, for evaluation purposes; in the modeling of the project and the preparation of corporate approvals and auction documents, including the privatization notice.

Machado Meyer was also directly responsible for the development of the legal structures designed to enable the capitalization of ICMS and the assumption of CEEE-D’s obligations to the ex-RS municipalities, and also actively participated in the negotiations of the Company’s financial debts with the IDB and AFD, and the amendment of CEEE-D’s regulatory metrics with ANEEL and MME.

Leading the work at Machado Meyer were the partners João Vitor Luke Reis (pictured left), Jose Prado (pictured center),Lucas De Moraes Cassiano Sant Anna (pictured right) and Laura Garcia de Freitas Souza worked together with lawyers Diego Gonçalves Fernandes, Jessica Kaori Konishi, Luis Filipe Gentil Pedro.
