Machado Meyer acts in USD 1.3 bn deal between CDB and BNDS
Machado Meyer Advogados acted as local counsel to China Development Bank (CDB) entered into an initial agreement to raise up to USD 1.3 billion (approx. BRL 6.5 billion) to be invested by BNDES in key investments in Brazil.
The agreement consists in two credit lines, a long-term one with a 10-year maturity and a short-term with 3-year maturity.
The long-term resources will be used to finance infrastructure projects, energy, manufacturing, oil and gas, agriculture, mining, sanitation, the ESG agenda (environmental, social and governance), climate change and green development, epidemic prevention, digital economy, high technology, municipal management, and other segments in Brazil.
As for the short-term line, the amount will be used as part of the BNDES’ investment budget and may even support operations that promote bilateral trade between China and Brazil, among other financing initiatives.
