Machado Meyer adds partner for environmental team
Machado Meyer announced the arrival of Guilherme J. S. Leal as a new partner in its Environmental, Climate Change and Crisis Management practices. The hire reinforces the firm’s environmental team and expands its footprint in Rio de Janeiro, a region relevant to the energy, oil and gas, and mining sectors.
Guilherme brings more than 20 years of experience in environmental law, with a track record in the energy, oil and gas, and mining segments. In recent years, his work has also focused on integrating climate agendas into corporate governance and on strategies aimed at the transition to a low-carbon economy.
His arrival brings the number of partners at Machado Meyer to 113, as the firm looks to expand its capabilities in environmental and climate matters, areas the firm describes as increasingly relevant to corporate business agendas.
Guilherme holds international qualifications from University College London (UCL) and George Washington University. He also co-leads the Climate Thematic Committee at the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS).
