Martínez de Hoz & Rueda advises YPF on shale stake sale

Argentinian law firm Martinez de Hoz & Rueda has represented energy company YPF on the sale of 11 per cent of its participation in the non-conventional Bandurria Sur area, located in Neuquén Province, to Equinor and Shell. 

Pablo Rueda of MHRIn January, Shell and Equinor had acquired a 49-per cent participation in the concession from Schlumberger.  

The concession transfer was approved by Neuquén Province via Decree No. 512/2020 in April. Shell and Equinor now have a 60 per cent stake in the concession, while YPF, which remains the operator, holds 40 per cent.

Bandurria Sur has an extension of around 56,000 acres and together with the Loma Campana and La Amarga Chica is one of the most promising shale plays in Vaca Muerta.
