Marval and Mayer Brown counsel Petronas in the sale to Vista Energy
Marval O’Farrell Mairal and Mayer Brown have advised Petronas Carigali Canada and Petronas Carigali International in the sale of PETRONAS E&P Argentina (PEPASA) to Vista Energy and Vista Argentina.
Through this transaction, Vista Energy gains full ownership of PEPASA, which holds a 50% working interest in the La Amarga Chica oil and gas field, a key asset located in the prolific Vaca Muerta shale play in Argentina, while YPF owns the remaining 50%. The transaction, which closed on April 15, involved 100% of PEPASA’s shares for approximately US$1.5 billion.

FGB advised PETRONAS on the Mexican aspects of the transaction and was led by partner Francisco Garcia Naranjo together with associate Sebastián Fernández Alonso.

Bruchou & Funes de Rioja was the local legal counsel in Argentina to Vista Energía in this transaction.
