Marval helps in Stellantis’ acquisition of 14% stake in McEwen Copper

Marval O’Farrell Mairal has legally assisted Stellantis (Fiat Chrysler-Peugeot Citroën group), in the acquisition of 14.2% of the shares of McEwen Copper, a company under the laws of Canada, through a 30 billion pesos investment in its Argentinean subsidiary.

McCarthy Tétrault acted as international advisor to Stellantis.

McEwen Copper currently owns the Los Azules project in San Juan Province, Argentina. 100% of the investment will be used for the needs of this important project.

Through this transaction, Stellantis will be able to expand its market in Argentina, as it will obtain certain rights to purchase copper when McEwen Copper’s Argentinean subsidiary, Andes Corporación Minera, begins operations. Through this investment, Stellantis is also making progress in consolidating its strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2038.

Julián Ignacio Burgo and Francisco Bellucci acted as in-house counsels to Stellantis.

McCarthy Tétrault’s team included partner Shawn Doyle and associates Peter Quon and Alexandra Comber.
