Marval O’Farrell Mairal advises Metrovías, Benito Roggio on Buenos Aires’s subway concession

Marval O’Farrell Mairal has assisted both companies in the bidding process to operate the transport for twelve years

Marval O’Farrell Mairal’s Administrative Law Department advised the consortium formed by the companies Metrovías and Benito Roggio in the bidding process to receive the concession to operate the underground of the City of Buenos Aires for the next twelve years, with the possibility of obtaining an additional three-year extension.

This is one of the most important infrastructure management projects in Argentina in recent years, as it involves the operation of the Buenos Aires underground, which carries more than 300 million passengers per year.

The bidding process started in 2018, and three offers were received
from the consortium formed between Metrovías (the current operator) and the construction company Benito Roggio,
from the company RATP Dev, from the group that operates the Paris Metro, and
from the French company Keolis, which operates the Lyon Metro, associated with the local company Helport.

After a process that lasted almost three years, the state-owned company Subterráneos de Buenos Aires (SBASE), which acted as the bidding body, officially announced the award to Metrovías-Roggio.
