mcs.law is a new boutique focused on media and entertainment
A new boutique focused on media and entertainment has been launched in the Brazilian market. Founded by Dagoberto Chaves (pictured left) and Íris Sá (pictured right), professionals with extensive experience in the area, including stints at Grupo Globo and traditional law firms in the sector, mcs.law | Miranda Chaves & Sá Advogados began its activities this September in Rio de Janeiro.
With a focus on intellectual property, entertainment and media law, the firm will also work on corporate/M&A, technology and other business law issues related to its clients, including representing clients in contentious disputes.
Dagoberto Chaves has 25 years’ experience in the media, entertainment and technology sectors. Among the various positions he has held, he was a lawyer at Grupo Globo – focusing on technology, media, content and major projects. He has been a guest lecturer on the post-graduate course in Entertainment Law at UERJ (subject: entertainment on the internet) and has received various training courses in the area from institutions such as The George Washington University, Max Planck Institute and PUC-RJ. He is co-author of Media Law Brazil.
Íris Sá has more than 20 years of experience as a lawyer and business affairs in the media and entertainment practice. Her previous experience includes more than 14 years at Grupo Globo, having initially worked as a lawyer in entertainment management and later as a Planning and Negotiations Specialist at Globo Filmes, was a partner in a traditional Brazilian law firm in the area and more recently worked as Legal and Business Affairs Manager at Netflix. She has several specializations in the area, including a specialization in Entertainment Law from UERJ and a postgraduate degree in Intellectual Property from PUC-RJ. Íris has also taught Entertainment Law at the Sebrae Audiovisual Project, the Escola de Séries and other specialized courses.
