Mexican transactional market records 5% increase
Mexico has registered 24 operations of M&A for a total value of $5,549.66 million dollars during the month of April according to TTR report
During the first four months of the year, there have been a total of 99 transactions, of which 44 have a combined value of $ 6,691million dollars, which implies an increase of 5.32% in the number of operations and an increase of 144.91% in the amount of these, compared to the same period in 2020.
In terms of sectors, Technology was the most active sector of the year, with 31 transactions and a 72% increase compared to April 2020, followed by the Financial and Insurance sector, with a total of 27 transactions and a 59% increase compared to the same period in 2020.
Cross-Border
With regard to the cross-border market, throughout 2021 Mexican companies have mainly opted to invest in the United States, Chile and Spain, with 8, 6 and 4 transactions respectively. By amount, Spain stands out, with $ 123.96 million dollars.
On the other hand, the United States is the country that has invested most in acquisitions in Mexico, with 32 operations, followed by Spain with 6 transactions. By amount, the United States stands out, with $ 853.95 million dollars.
Meanwhile, US companies acquiring Mexican companies have increased by 68.42% up to April, compared to the same period in 2020, while foreign acquisitions in the technology and Internet sectors have registered an increase of 166.67% compared to April 2020.
Regarding foreign Private Equity and Venture Capital funds investing in Mexican companies have registered an increase of 500% up to April 2021.
Private Equity, Venture Capital and Asset Acquisitions
Up to April 2021, a total of 6 Private Equity transactions for $ 76 million dollars have been recorded, which represents a 20% increase in the number of transactions and a 39.88% decrease in the amount of these, compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the Venture Capital segment, a total of 49 transactions with an aggregate amount of $ 891million dollars were recorded up to April, representing an increase of 58.06% in the number of transactions and an increase of 175.52% in the number of transactions in year-on-year terms.
In the Asset Acquisitions segment, 16 transactions were recorded up to April, for an aggregate amount of $ 4,843 million dollars, representing a decrease of 30.43% in the number of transactions, and an increase of 462.40% in the amount of these, compared to April 2020.
Transactional Highlights
For April 2020, Transactional Track Record has selected the transaction related to the acquisition of 40% of Ibox Energy by Cox Energy America, valued at $ 113.10 million dollars, as a highlighted transaction.
