MW Trade – Monteiro e Weiss Trade, combines the partners’ 20 years of experience in the field of international trade: Andrea Weiss Balassiano (pictured left) and Carol Monteiro de Carvalho (pictured right).
The office has a business focus on trade defense processes (anti-dumping, subsidies and countervailing measures), international agreements, trade facilitation and customs law, tariff reduction, in addition to consulting on issues related to the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreements.
Andrea holds a Postgraduate Degree from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (2001) and is a Postgraduate Professor in International Trade Law. A frequent speaker at national and international seminars and conferences, she currently chairs the International Trade Commission of the OAB in Rio de Janeiro and is a member of the Trade Defense Commission of FIRJAN. She also acts as a Brazilian member of the Strategic Alliance related to the Law and Practice of WTO Agreements and Trade Defense (SAWTR).
Carol has a Postgraduate Degree in Foreign Trade from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and was nominated as Vice Chair of the International Trade and Customs Committee of the IBA in 2023. She is also a Director of the International Trade Committee of the Brazilian Institute of Studies on Competition, Consumption and International Trade (IBRAC), responsible for the organisation of the main seminar in Brazil in the area.
The firm inaugurated its new headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, in the Ipanema district. The team is composed exclusively of women, with 2 partners, 2 associates and 1 intern, in addition to the administrative staff.
