Panama’s Veló Legal incorporates Hoyos & Asociados

Panamanian law firm Veló Legal has announced it has incorporated the staff and client portfolio of law firm Hoyos & Asociados, and which is also based in Panama.

Veló LegalPanama City-based Veló Legal was founded in 2019 by directors Juan Antonio Boyd (pictured, left) and Carolina de la Guardia (pictured, right) and describes itself as “offering services to clients using a new model, allowing it to be more effective and efficient,” according to the firm’s website.

Hoyos & Asociados is a full-service law firm led by Carlos Arturo Hoyos and Adriana Grimaldo, and who are being incorporated into Veló Legal. Carlos is incorporated as a partner, while his father, Arturo Carlos Hoyos, joins the firm as of counsel, and who is a former president of Panama’s Supreme Court and served as a magistrate for 16 years.

Carlos (pictured) is a graduate of Oxford University, and holds a Summa Cum Laude from the Universidad Católica Santa María la Antigua, while Adriana holds an LLM from the University of Southern California and is an expert in real estate, infrastructure and environmental and natural resources laws.

Hoyos & Asociados has a portfolio of important clients in various sectors in Panama and the Caribbean, and has represented clients in the creation and operation of online businesses and specialises in corporate law, public contracts, labour law, retail and real estate, among other practices. 

“A fundamental part of the alliance between the two firms is the enthusiasm and know-how of its younger members, as well as the experience of Carlos Arturo Hoyos, who will act as an external counsel to Veló Legal,” the latter firm said.
