Perez Bustamante & Ponce instructed on major PPP contract in Ecuador

Perez Bustamante & Ponce advised Consur in the negotiation and execution of an PPP (Public Private Partnership) contract for the construction of Río 7-Huaquillas, a 95 km road in Ecuador bordering with Perú.

The project, valued at over $1 billion, includes the design, construction, financing as well as operating and maintaining the road. This is the first road concession under the new PPP law in Ecuador and the second contract awarded overall.

Consur (Concesionaria del Sur) is a consortium formed by Latinoamericana de Construcciones, a Colombian engineering and infrastructure company, and FOPECA, a construction company from Ecuador.

Partners Juan Manuel Marchán and Diego Pérez Ordóñez led the Perez Bustamante & Ponce team advising Consur on the bidding, negotiation process and contractual compliance. Lawyers from the firm´s offices in Guayaquil and Quito worked together on this deal.
