Pérez-Llorca counsels Afore Coppel on $120m investment

Pérez-Llorca has counselled Afore Coppel in the structuring, negotiation and audit of underlying assets, in its investment for USD $120 million, of the USD $852 million jointly with 6 other Mexican Afores, in the CKD “Fieck 23” listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) managed by Mexico Infrastructure Partners (MIP).

This CKD is the owner, together with FONADIN, of 13 power plants that the Mexican Federal Government previously acquired from the Spanish group Iberdrola.

This transaction, completed on August 30, involved complex negotiations, from a capital markets and corporate governance perspective, with MIP and FONADIN, and was additionally subject to various restrictions by the Mexican Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE). In addition, the advisory involved conducting a legal and regulatory audit of the underlying assets of the CKD, mostly 13 power plants previously acquired from Iberdrola.

Pérez-Llorca’s team was led by partner Bernardo Reyes Retana K. (pictured), with the support of partners Rodrigo Rojas R. and Oscar Moreno S., counsel Julia González R., associates Francisco Alvarez C., Ma. Fernanda Koloffón E., Ma. José Sánchez A., Pamela Velázquez Z. and Ivanna Parada V., and law clerk Valeria Camacho B.
