Pérez-Llorca enters Colombian legal market through full integration with Gómez-Pinzón
In a historic move for the Latin American legal market, Pérez-Llorca consolidates its Latin American presence by merging with elite Colombian law firm Gómez-Pinzón in a landmark internationalization move, marking an unprecedented integration between a top Colombian law firm and an Ibero-American legal player.
With this transaction, Spanish law firm Pérez-Llorca not only establishes a presence in Colombia but also solidifies its internationalization strategy across Latin America. The deal involves the integration of all Bogotá-based Gómez-Pinzón partners into Pérez-Llorca’s partnership structure and the absorption of its full legal team—an initial group of 120 lawyers operating from offices in Bogotá and Medellín.
The integration aims to create a leading legal platform in Colombia, with a strong focus on cross-border transactions, financings, and complex disputes. The firms plan to close the integration in the coming weeks, pending final approval from their respective governance bodies.
Pedro Pérez-Llorca, Managing Partner of Pérez-Llorca, noted that “this integration will allow us to compete for leadership in Colombia and consolidate our Latin American strategy. We want to be a truly Colombian firm, not a foreign presence in the market, contributing positively to the development of the country’s legal ecosystem.”
Mauricio Piñeros, Managing Partner of Gómez-Pinzón, added that “the combination of Pérez-Llorca’s international capabilities with our local expertise and team talent will allow us to handle increasingly complex cross-border matters. This marks a turning point in the evolution of legal practice in the region.”
The integration follows Pérez-Llorca’s recent combination with Mexican elite firm González Calvillo in 2024, its expansion into Portugal through its Lisbon office, and ongoing growth in key financial centers such as London, New York, Brussels, and Singapore.
Following the completion of the integration, Pérez-Llorca will operate 11 offices worldwide and employ nearly 1,000 professionals, providing legal services under Spanish, Portuguese, Mexican, Colombian, and EU law across cities including Madrid, Barcelona, Bogotá, Medellín, Lisbon, London, Brussels, Monterrey, Mexico City, New York, and Singapore.
