Pinheiro Guimarães advised Telefónica on the acquisition of i2GO
Pinheiro Guimarães advised Telefónica Brasil on the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Samauma Brands, a Brazilian accessories and electronics specialist founded 12 years ago that operates the i2GO brand.
i2GO encompasses a broad portfolio of smartphone and electronic accessories, has a presence at more than 20,000 points-of-sale in Brazil and managed to establish long term relationships with Chinese suppliers.
Telefónica Brasil indicated it plans to position the i2GO brand alongside its existing, OVVI-branded accessories range, stating that the two brands will coexist in a complementary manner in terms of portfolio and market positioning.
The total purchase price may reach BRL80 million, depending on certain operational milestones being reached in the next four years.
The founding shareholders of Samauma will remain involved in the business operations.
Pinheiro Guimarães advised Telefonica Brasil with a team led by partners Rodrigo Fagundes Terassovich (pictured left) and Francisco José Pinheiro Guimarães (pictured right), and associate Alexandre Vendramini Sampaio. Telefonica’s in-house counsel Nathalia Pereira Leite, Danilo Marins and Nadia Furuzawa Santos also worked on the deal.
Emerenciano, Baggio & Associados acted as counsel to the selling shareholders with a team led by partner Gustavo Lemos Fernandes and associates Cecília Rezende de Freitas and Isabelle Alvarenga.
