Pinheiro Neto advises Softbank on Brazilian pet supplier investment

Brazilian law firm Pinheiro Neto has assisted Japanese investment bank Softbank in a 250-million-reais ($46.6 million) investment in Petsupermarket Comércio de Produtos Para Animais, an online pet supplies company.

Miguel Tornovsky of Pinheiro NetoSoftBank’s investment will support the company’s growth in meeting a higher demand of online services during the social isolation period to limit the spread of the coronavirus, mandated by the Brazilian authorities, the online pet retailer’s founder Marcio Waldman was quoted by Reuters as saying.

SoftBank Group invests in in technology companies, telecommunications, e-commerce, internet, finance, media and other businesses, including start-ups through its venture capital funds.

SoftBank will make the investment through its Latin America fund.

Pinheiro Neto’s team featured partner Miguel Tornovsky and associates Milena Casado de Oliveira, Nicholas Versignassi, and Carolina Queiroga Nogueira.

Softbank was also advised by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, while the company’s in-house lawyer Stephen Pelliccia was also involved in the deal.
