Pinheiro Neto assists Trident Energy in Brazil oil fields acquisition
Pinheiro Neto Advogados assisted UK-based Trident Energy in the bidding and negotiation process for the acquisition of a 100-per cent participation in 10 oil and gas fields in the Enchova and Pampo Clusters, originally acquired in the country’s Round Zero auction, and which were offered up by state-owned oil company Petrobras as part of its divestment program.
The acquisition has a combined value of $851 million.
After two rounds of bidding, Trident Energy and Petrobras signed the sales and purchase agreement in July.
Pinheiro Neto also acted for Trident Energy on the negotiation of the financing arrangements required for the aquisition. The deal marks Trident Energy’s first investment in Brazil.
The Brazilian law firm was accompanied by Herbert Smith Freehills in its representation of Trident Energy, which is focused on Latin America and Africa, and has offices in London and Equatorial Guinea.
