PPO represents AFD on €100m loan

PPO Abogados has advised the French Development Agency on a loan to support families made vulnerable by Covid-19 in Bolivia

Bolivian law firm, PPO Abogados, has represented the French Development Agency in granting a €100 million loan to Bolivia to support households severely affected by the covid-19 pandemic.

The transaction was closed on 31 August, with the Bolivian government relying on in-house counsel. According to the legislative proposal, the credit contract must be repaid in full between January 2026 and June 2035.

The state will use the funds to provide financial support by issuing vouchers to vulnerable members of society, including children and students from pre-school to the second year of primary school, elderly people without access to pension programmes, pregnant women, mothers of children under two years old, and people with disabilities.

This marks the second loan of the same amount by the AFD to the Bolivian government. In addition, the French government donated $1 million dollars to Bolivia for the purchase of PCR tests and other medical equipment.

PPO’s team consisted of partners Carlos Pinto (pictured top left) and Lindsay Sykes (pictured top right), and associates Ingrid Reese (pictured bottom left) and Andrea Lizárraga (pictured bottom right).
