PPU advises AES Chivor on Colombia wind farm portfolio purchase
Law firm Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría’s (PPU) Bogotá office has advised Colombian company AES Chivor on its acquisition of a wind farm portfolio totalling 549 megawatts in capacity from local company Colwind.
AES Chivor is an affiliate of Chile’s Norgener, which is part of AES Gener.
The value of the deal was not disclosed, but is speculated by local media as being in the region of $15 million.
The wind complex, called Jemeiwaa Ka’I, comprises five farms to be built in Colombia’s La Guajira department. Jemeiwaa Ka’l was formed in 2010 with European capital to develop wind projects in Colombia.
PPU in Bogotá acted as lead counsel to AES Chivor, together with Paris-based law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel.
The deal involved companies in France, Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Chile and Colombia, and the jurisdictions of Colombia and Chile, the firm added.
PPU lawyers engaged in the transaction were partner Nicolás Tirado and associates Laura Grisales and Santiago Stein.
Gide Loyrette Nouel’s partner Alexis Pailleret and lawyer Chloé Bouhours also advised AES Chivor.
