PPU advises Grupo Romero on strategic data center investment in Latin America
Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (PPU) has served as legal counsel to Grupo Romero on the acquisition of 49% stake in GTData HoldCo, the holding company that oversees GTD’s data center operations in Chile, Colombia, and Peru.
The transaction, valued at approximately US$118 million at signing (subject to customary adjustments), marks a significant expansion of the Peruvian conglomerate’s footprint in the regional digital infrastructure sector.
PPU was the counsel to Grupo Romero across all three jurisdictions involved. The cross-border team included partners Guillermo Vial, Constanza Rodriguez, Andrés Sanfuentes, Guillermo Infante, and Gabriel Budnik (director) in Chile; Hernando Padilla in Colombia; and Guillermo Ferrero, Victor Abad, Verónica Vergaray, Augusto Bustamante, and Jacqueline Febres in Peru.
Rafael Villarán Bedoya, legal director of Grupo Romero Investment Office, acted as in-house counsel on the transaction. Garrigues y Cia represented the sellers. The buyer in the transaction is Cubo BidCo, a Grupo Romero entity.
