PPU advises on financing for Chilean wind farm expansion
Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (PPU) has acted as Chilean counsel to Ibereólica Renovables Chile and EDF EN Chile Holding in relation to the financing of the expansion of the Cabo Leones I wind farm.
The financing package totalled $210.3 million and the subsequent expansion will allow the wind facility to increase its electricity generation capacity from 115.5MW to 173.1MW with the addition of 12 turbines.
The Cabo Leones I wind farm was built in late 2016 and is located on the coast in the Atacama region of northern Chile, about 100km southwest of Vallenar.
PPU Partners Marcela Silva (pictured) and Marcelo Armas advised on the financing package, with associates Felipe Arévalo, Mario Fava, Pedro Pablo Valenzuela, Santiago Mesías and Vera Yacher.
Linklaters acted as US counsel to the sponsors and Milbank as US counsel to the lenders, while Chilean law firm Morales y Besa acted as local counsel to the lenders.
