Chilean law firm Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría has acted as local counsel to BNP Paribas, Citibank and HSBC, the underwriters in Chile’s first sovereign green bond issuance for a total $1.42 billion, and with which Chile became the first country in the Americas to issue this type of bond.
PPU partner Marcelo Armas (pictured) and associates Daniel Parodi and Santiago Mesias acted as counsel to the banks.
Shaerman & Sterling also acted as counsel to the underwriters.
Cleary Gottlieb and Morales y Besa were Chile’s legal advisors on the deal.
