PPU advises Sumitomo on acquisition of Chilean copper mine stake
Chilean law firm Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uria (PPU) has advised Japan’s Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. on its acquisition of a 30-per cent indirect stake in phase two of the Quebrada Blanca copper mine project.
The acquisition was made through the creation of a joint venture with Canadian mining company Teck Resources Limited.
The transaction was valued at $1.5 billion.
PPU’s team comprised partners Juan Paulo Bambach, Carlos Alberto Reyes, Juan José Eyzaguirre and Guillermo Infante, and associate Cristina Olavarría.
