PPU and Claro advise on energy M&A in Chile

Philippi, Prietocarrizosa, Ferrero DU & Uría acted for electricity company Generadora Metropolitana on its $300 million acquisition of ESSA in Chile.

ESSA (Sociedad Eléctrica Santiago) is a Chilean power generating company and the owner of stations Nueva Renca, Santa Lidia and Los Vientos. Prior to this deal, ESSA was a subsidiary of AES Gener S.A. and Norgener. 

Generadora Metropolitana is a joint venture of energy companies EDF and AME. 

Partners Carlos Alberto Reyes and Guillermo Infante led the PPU team advising EDF and AME and their joint venture.
