Jerónimo Carcelén (pictured right), expert in mining law, both in the public and private sectors, has a career advising Governments in mining public policy (Colombia, Ecuador, Afghanistan), multilateral organizations (World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation), and private companies in matters of foreign investment; mining corporate and project acquisitions; mining litigations and arbitrations; and negotiation of agreements associated to the mining world, such as financing, construction, easements, and energy. Carcelén is a Mining Law Professor for the Diploma studies in Natural Resources Law at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and at Universidad Diego Portales.

Matías Desmadryl (pictured left) is one of Chile’s most reputed lawyers in Water Law, besides being well-respected in the fields of environmental and natural resources law and has a vast career in general regulatory matters and litigation. He has taken part in varied and relevant investment projects. Desmadryl is Professor of Water Law in the LLM offered by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and of Environmental Compliance in the Diploma course in Natural Resources and the Environment, offered by Universidad de Los Andes. He is also Professor of Environmental Compliance in the Diploma course in Corporate Compliance and Best Practices of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Finally, Mario Tapia (pictured center right) is a prestigious lawyer in the area of fishing and aquaculture, with vast expertise in advisory work for companies and corporations, both domestic and foreign, all of them industry leaders, contributing to their growth and the development of their projects in a comprehensive manner, owing to his profound knowledge of corporate matters. Between 2014 and 2018, he held the post of national council member for fishing, appointed by the President of the Republic.

Andrés Sanfuentes, PPU partner and director of the Chile office, stated being proud of this move, which will translate into growth through synergies and a huge complementarity with the firm.

With these 3 appointments, PPU now boasts 54 partners in Colombia, Chile, and Peru.
