PPV represents HIF in eFuels project in Uruguay

Posadas Posadas & Vecino has represented HIF Global in the legal and fiscal matters for the development, construction and financing of a plant for the production of green hydrogen-based fuels in Uruguay.

With an investment of close to US$ 4 billion, this project, which will decarbonise 150,000 vehicles per year, will represent the largest investment in the country’s history.

The project consists of a chemical plant in Paysandú, a methanol production plant and an e-fuels production plant, as well as an on-site electrolyser for the production of approximately 100,000 tonnes of green hydrogen, renewable energy plants (wind and solar farms), transmission lines and other facilities to produce approximately 180,000 tonnes of e-fuels per year, using the capture of 710,000 tonnes per year of CO2 from biomass, grain alcohol distillation and other sources, decarbonising more than 150,000 vehicles per year.

In addition, the project is expected to employ around 1,600 full-time employees during the construction phase, with peaks of more than 3,200, and will provide permanent full-time employment for 300 people during operation.
