Rennó Penteado Sampaio announces new partner to energy area
The multidisciplinary boutique Rennó, Penteado, Sampaio Advogados has announced the arrival of Marilda Rosado de Sá Ribeiro (pictured) as a new partner to structure and lead the firm’s energy area.
Marilda is one of Brazil’s most recognized professionals in the energy area, having worked for almost 40 years in positions such as consultant and Superintendent of the Bid Promotion Superintendence (SPL) of the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), legal director of Repsol, consultant for a large full-service law firm, partner in boutique law firms, as well as a lawyer at Petrobras for over 20 years.
At the state-owned oil company, she worked in the area of risk contracts, which brought together the company’s most prominent professionals, and led the company’s internationalization projects, being part of the team at the head of Braspetro, the arm of Petrobras that controlled its international expansion in the 1980s and 1990s.
In addition to her extensive professional experience, Marilda has a solid academic background. With a Master’s degree in Philosophy of Law from PUC-RJ, a PhD in International Petroleum Law from USP and a specialization in Commercial Law from FGV, she has been a professor of Private International Law at the Law School of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) for over 25 years. During this time, she has coordinated research groups in areas such as oil and gas, anti-corruption, governance, international law and renewable energies.
She is a professor of Private International Law at the Law School of the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), a member of the Brazilian Society of International Law, a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators, a founding member of the Center of Excellence in Development, Oil, Energy and Mining (CEDPEM), a member of the International Law Association (ILA), vice-president of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL), as well as an arbitrator listed in the CMBA and CAM-CCBC.
The new energy area will focus on oil & gas, refining, transportation, distribution, decommissioning and energy transition issues, such as renewable energy. In addition to Marilda, the practice will have a team of 12 professionals who are part of the firm’s regulatory and infrastructure area.
