Sacyr returns to Berkemeyer for second PPP in Paraguay

Paraguay law firm BERKEMEYER Attorneys & Counsellors reprised its role for Sacyr in the country´s second PPP project.

The project covers the expansion and modernisation of the international airport and the winning bidder will operate the airport concession for 30 years. On January 12, 2017, reports emerged that the Public Works Ministry would postpone the project’s licensing upon request from the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) which is conducting an audit of the bidding process.

Managing partner Hugo T. Berkemeyer led the team advising Sacyr Agunsa, together with Martin Carlevaro and Sofia Suarez. The consortium is formed by Spanish infrastructure multinational Sacyr and Agunsa, the Chilean transport logistics and infrastructure company.

In October 2016, BERKEMEYER advised a consortium which included Sacyr in Paraguay´s first ever PPP project.

According to media reports, the other consortium bidding for the airport concession, Vinci Airports-Talavera & Ortellado, instructed GGBSL (Gómez Grassi, Gómez Buongermini y Sarubbi Lutz).
