Salaverri assists GeoPark Argentina in Phoenix acquisition

Salaverri Burgio & Wetzler Malbrán has assisted GeoPark Argentina, a subsidiary of GeoPark Limited, in the acquisition from Phoenix Global Resources Limited, a subsidiary of Mercuria Energy Trading, of non-operator working interests in 4 world-class unconventional blocks in Vaca Muerta.

As a result of the transaction, GeoPark will have a 45% interest in the Mata Mora Norte production block and the Mata Mora Sur exploration block (located in Neuquén Province), as well as a 50% interest in the Confluencia Norte and Confluencia Sur exploration blocks (located in Río Negro Province).

The contract was signed on 13 May and the total value of the transaction exceeds US$300,000,000. The transaction capitalises on more than 20 years of GeoPark’s operational and business presence in Argentina.

Monica Jimenez Gonzalez and Adriana Rachadell acted as in-house legal counsels to GeoPark.
